that C-Level hospital executives should watch during 2012.
The issues cover clinical and operational areas including health information
technology, medical imaging, cancer therapies, cardiovascular care and
advancements in minimally invasive surgery. The list “takes into account the
convergence of critical patient safety, economic and regulatory pressures
currently facing healthcare executives,” according to ECRI.
Technology issues that bear watching include electronic health records,
minimally invasive bariatric surgery, digital breast tomosynthesis, new CT
radiation reduction technologies, transcatheter heart valve implantation,
robotic-assisted surgery, new cardiac stent developments, ultrahigh-field-
strength MRI systems, personalized therapeutic vaccines for cancer and
proton beam radiation therapy.
