With more than 20 years of experience leading teams, developing brand identity, driving sales culture, formulating innovative distribution channels and aligning products and services to meet and exceed customer expectations, Manuel Chinea has a broad range of banking experience. He has direct management experience in functional disciplines that include marketing, brand development, product management, sales, retail banking and business banking during his more than 20 years at Banco Popular North America and Banco Popular de Puerto Rico. Both banking institutions are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Puerto Rico-based Popular Inc, a leading financial institution with more than $30 billion in assets, 8,000 employees and operations in Puerto Rico, the U.S. Mainland and the Caribbean.Since 1999, Manuel has had responsibility for overseeing all marketing and product development efforts for the Bank in the U.S. including overall brand management. Beginning in 2006, his role at Banco Popular North America was expanded to lead sales and distribution efforts for the Bank in the U.S. These responsibilities include management of the Banks alternative delivery channels (ATMs, Internet and Call Center) as well as Cash Management, Investment & Insurance Sales and Consumer Lending. In 2008, he was appointed President of Popular Insurance USA, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Banco Popular North America under which the Investment & Insurance Sales group operates.Over the past decade, Manuel has been an active member and officer of several marketing, credit, treasury management and not-for-profit organizations. He has been featured as a speaker in national conferences in the areas of Financial Services Marketing, Multi-Cultural Marketing, Small Business Banking and Branch Micro-Marketing. Manuel received a bachelors degree from the University of Maryland, and his M.B.A. from the University of Michigan.
