Lamine Zarrad

Lamine is an innovative thought leader and futurist in the banking industry. As CEO and Founder of Tokken, he has developed a regulatory compliant and a secure digital banking platform for the cannabis industry.Lamine’s varied background includes service as a forward deployed U.S. Marine, Global Wealth Advisor for Merrill Lynch, and most recently as a Bank Examiner for the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). In the process of evaluating banks' financial conditions and compliance programs for the OCC, Lamine developed the Tokken business model to serve cash intensive, emergent cannabis industry that is largely disconnected from the modern financial system. His vision for an improved banking sector sets Tokken’s course while he leads the Tokken team in a shared pursuit of extending the privilege of banking to the underserved communities.Lamine has been awarded a Bachelors in Business Administration in International Business and Russian Studies from the University of Texas at Arlington and a Masters of Public Affairs degree with a focus on Policy Analysis/Public Finance from the University of Texas at Austin. Lamine was born in the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan and came to the United States as a refugee. Lamine speaks four languages and resides in Denver, CO with his family.
