Dali� Jim�nez

Dali� Jim�nez is Associate Professor of Law and Jeremy Bentham Scholar at the University of Connecticut School of Law. She teaches bankruptcy, contracts, and consumer law. Professor Jim�nez�s scholarly interests include empirical and policy work in consumer financial protection, bankruptcy, credit and debt collection markets, and the financial distress of American families. She is currently working on a large-scale, randomized control trial evaluating the effectiveness of legal and counseling interventions to help individuals in financial distress. Professor Jim�nez spent the 2011-2012 academic year at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB), a federal agency established with the assistance of Elizabeth Warren, for whom Jim�nez was a teaching assistant in Contracts at Harvard Law. At the CFPB, Jim�nez served as a policy fellow in the Deposit, Cash, Collections & Reporting Markets group, where her work focused on credit reporting, debt collection and debt relief. While there, she co-authored two reports to Congress on credit scoring issues. Prior to her academic career, Professor Jim�nez clerked for the Honorable Juan R. Torruella of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit, was as a litigation associate at Ropes & Gray, L.L.P. In Boston, and worked on consumer protection issues at the Massachusetts State Senate.Professor Jim�nez is a cum laude graduate of Harvard Law School, where she was a recipient of the American Bankruptcy Institute Award for Outstanding Bankruptcy Student and was senior editor of the Harvard International Law Journal. She holds B.S. degrees in electrical engineering/computer science and political science from MIT.
