Chris Date is a well-known independent consultant, author, lecturer and researcher specializing in relational technology. One of the first people to recognize and support Codd's pioneering work on the relational model, he was involved in technical planning for the IBM products SQL/DS and DB2. He is best known for his books � in particular his INTRODUCTION TO DATABASE SYSTEMS, now in its 7th edition, and more recently FOUNDATION FOR FUTURE DATABASE SYSTEMS: THE THIRD MANIFESTO, in its 2nd edition, coauthored by Hugh Darwen.
