CHIME tool to help IT pros benchmark their organizations

Group’s service will let members compare capabilities, share experiences with vendors, says Shafiq Rab.

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives is releasing a new analytics tool to help member healthcare organizations benchmark their organizations and creating custom reports.

The tool is TransformIT, which enables comparison of data regarding information technology in areas such as budgeting, financials, organizational time and location. Reports also can be made to assess vendors and products used by an organization, as well as names and contact information.

If a CHIME member has a question about a certain product, for instance, he or she can turn to TransformIT to find colleagues with experience using that product, according to CHIME, the trade association for chief information officers and other healthcare IT professionals.

The group released information on the offering at the HIMSS18 Conference and Exhibit in Las Vegas.

TransformIT also enables CHIME members to correct and update their organization's entries to ensure analyses are based on accurate and current data.

"TransformIT is a great way for our members to gain intelligence for making strategic purchasing decisions, setting a budget and seeing how their hospitals and health systems compare with peers," says Shafiq Rab, MD, chair of CHIME's strategic planning committee and senior vice president and CIO at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. "We no longer are at the mercy of analytics based on unreliable data. We are empowered to make TransformIT a robust repository of timely data."

CHIME will roll release TransformIT in a tiered rollout starting March 5.
