Zix Scans Inbound Mail for PHI

Electronic mail encryption software vendor Zix Corp. has introduced ZixGateway Inbound, which is designed to proactively identify unsecured protected health information in received e-mail messages and attachments.

The Dallas-based vendor already offers technology to scan outbound e-mails for protected health information. The inbound application notifies appropriate internal compliance and data security managers of unprotected PHI. It also provides daily reports so the managers can identify and work with the e-mail senders.
