Work Starts on New Lab Reporting Standards

Health Level Seven International and the Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute will collaborate on new standards for reporting laboratory test results.

The organizations will create a consistent process for identifying and labeling pathology specimens to streamline test reporting. The goal is to have integrated workflows across all users for specimen handling and processing, according to the organizations.

Others joining in the initiative include the College of American Pathologists, IHE Anatomic Pathology and the GS1 supply chain organization.
