Deseret Health Group in Centerville, Utah, will used a hands-free, voice-based communication system for nurses and other caregivers in all of its skilled nursing facilities.
The company operates 10 facilities in Kansas and one in Ohio. The facilities will implement the AccuNurse technology of Vocollect Healthcare Systems Inc., Pittsburgh.
The application, which works by pressing a button on a badge, enables users to verbally receive worklists, document task completion and communicate with co-workers. Deseret Health Group has implemented clinical information systems in the past year and has become paperless except at the point of care, says Ty Weston, president. The communication system will enable nurses to continuously chart care during a shift.
