Virginia Commonwealth University Health System will deploy wireless signal distribution technology from InnerWireless Inc. at its new 232-bed critical care hospital in Richmond.
The Richardson, Texas-based vendor's Horizon technology is designed to help health care organizations converge wireless coverage of voice and data applications over a single infrastructure. The Richmond-based delivery system will use it to optimize various wireless signals, including Wi-Fi, wireless telemetry, mobile phones, pagers and two-way radios, at its new facility.
It also will be used to give clinicians faster access to patient data, including lab and test results, medication histories, allergies and vital signs, via the Physician Information System mobile software from Boston-based PatientKeeper. Clinicians will be able to access the software at the bedside on Tablet PCs, laptops and mobile carts.
The hospital is expected to open in September. For more information, go to innerwireless.com.
