The West Virginia Health Information Network has begun pilot tests using the health information exchange platform of Truven Health Analytics, the former health business unit of Thomson Reuters.

The network is the designated statewide HIE. Pilot participants include Medicaid, public health agencies, Wheeling Hospitals and West Virginia University Healthcare. The pilot starts with information on more than 2.1 million patients, including 37 million distinct lab results, 96 million diagnoses, 2.4 million allergies, and 88 million distinct patient visit histories over six years.

West Virginia’s HIE also currently links to the state eDirective Registry to give access to living wills, durable medical power of attorney and related documents, and the state immunization registry. More information is available at wvhin.org.
