Under a new digital health improvement program, Walgreens will offer health wellness content and services from WebMD Health in its drug stores and on its website.

As part of the alliance, WebMD users will have desktop or mobile device access to Walgreens’ online prescription refill and clinical appointment scheduling sites.

Walgreens will place around its stores and online relevant WebMD content covering allergies, eating right, skin care, fitness, healthy aging, colds and flu, sleep, and emotional, heart and oral health. Customers also will have access to WebMD’s digital wellness coaching programs to help quit smoking, lose weight, eat and exercise better, and manage stress and chronic conditions.

Walgreens further will integrate its Balance Rewards incentive program into WebMD’s Healthy Target mobile app-supported program to track health status indicators such as activity trackers, wireless scales and glucometers. Consumers using the service can receive relevant content on their status and motivational tips. Under Balance Rewards, consumers earn points for healthy behaviors that can be used to receive discounts when purchasing items at the store.
