Wake Forest taps Premier for a package of services

In other contracts, Ransom Memorial Hospital selects a new medical imaging partner.


Here is Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of health information technology contracts and implementations.
  • Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, N.C., has contracted with Premier for a suite of clinical and financial performance improvement services supporting alternative payment models, population health and lower care delivery costs. Services to be provided under the multi-year agreement include data-driven supply chain and group purchasing, integrated pharmacy solutions and cross-continuum cost, quality and service line analytics. Wake Forest seeks to centralize supply chain practices, use clinical, financial and pharmaceutical analytics to view utilization, variation and outcomes, compare effectiveness and prioritize areas needing improvement.
  • Ransom Memorial Hospital, a 44-bed facility in Ottawa, Kan., will use a diagnostic medical imaging platform from Montreal-based Intelerad Medical Systems. “Not only will the platform allow us to provide our radiologists and referring physicians with quicker and easier access to patient images and reports, but it will also allow us to expand the services we provide in areas such as breast imaging,” said Doug Rich, chief operating officer at the hospital. Ransom Memorial recently opened a cancer care center and is expanding the emergency department, including new critical and trauma treatment rooms.

  • San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington, N.M., will implement an integrated clinical, financial and population health management electronic health record platform from Cerner. Designed to support patients throughout the care continuum, the platform will replace more than 75 IT applications. Specific Cerner products on the platform include the Millennium EHR, HealtheIntent for population health management and the HealtheEDW enterprise data warehouse and analytics module.
  • Humber River Hospital in Toronto, a Meditech client for 26 years, is upgrading to the vendor’s newest electronic health record, called WebEHR. The 656-bed hospital is one of the largest and busiest in Canada. Meditech is the top EHR vendor in Canada with more than 50 live regional installations that compromise more than 500 inpatient facilities.
  • Beacon Health System in South Bend, Ind., is expanding an existing accountable care relationship with analytics vendor Koan Health. Beacon Health’s ACO is called CHA ACO, and Koan will now provide additional healthcare analytics, risk management and performance improvement services for multiple ACO and other Beacon Health initiatives. These include Medicare Shared Savings, the Medicare Bundled Payments for Care Improvement Initiative and the Comprehensive Care for Joint Replacement Model.
