Vista Equity Partners has closed its $320 million acquisition of ambulatory software vendor Sage Healthcare and has changed the name to Vitera Healthcare Solutions.

Vitera also will have a new leader with the appointment of Matthew Hawkins as CEO. Betty Otter-Nickerson, former president of Sage Healthcare, will leave at year-end following a transition period.

Tampa-based Vitera, serving 80,000 physicians, sells physician practice management and electronic health records software, as well as data analytics and Web portal modules.

Hawkins joins the company after serving as CEO at SirsiDynix, which sells software to libraries. He also has served as vice president and general manager at Henry Schein Practice Solutions, which primarily sells dental software and supplies but also has ambulatory applications. Prior to that post, Hawkins was a consultant at McKinsey & Company.
