Verbal Order Authentication at HIMSS11

Integrated Document Solutions at HIMSS11 will launch a verbal order authentication application.

Integrated Document Solutions at HIMSS11 will launch a verbal order authentication application.

It is designed to replace hand-written forms with an electronic workflow process to facilitate authentication of physician verbal and telephone orders. The orders are digitally recorded and placed in a queue enabling a physician to use a Web-enabled computer or mobile device to authenticate the orders.

Facilities can create custom workflows to support medication, laboratory, respiratory and other orders. Physicians are notified of pending orders via e-mail or text messages, login, view a worksheet and electronically sign their orders.

Administrators can monitor the status of pending and completed orders. Images of completed orders and an audit trail can be sent via interface to a health information management system and data collected are available for meaningful use reporting, according to the vendor.
