Two infection control software vendors are offering their products in tandem, enabling the analysis of administrative and clinical data to better understand hospital-acquired infection rates and costs.
The alliance, a joint feasibility program, combines the HAI cost analysis software and services of the Infection Prevention division of 3M Inc. with the real-time clinical infection surveillance system of RL Solutions.
The 3M system analyzes the cost of patient cases with an HIA code compared with cases without the code. A facility can view the HAI rate by procedure to target improvement programs. The RL Solutions software analyzes clinical data in real time from multiple information systems, such as lab results, surgical procedures, pharmacy orders and ADT information, to help detect, management and control infection.
