The stock price of Eclipsys Corp. rose slightly in morning trading on July 31 after the Atlanta-based hospital software vendor beat investment analysts expectations for the second quarter of 2008.
Net income in the quarter for Eclipsys rose 49% to $8.5 million, compared with the same period last year. Excluding certain items, earnings per share totaled 24 cents, a penny higher than expected. Quarterly revenue increased 11% to $132.1 million, which was $4 million above expectations.
Eclipsys attributed better financial performance, in part, to improved sales from St. Louis-based Enterprise Performance Systems Inc., which was acquired in February.
For the first half of 2009, Eclipsys had net income of $8.8 million, up 9%, while revenue increased 11% to $256.5 million. More information is available at eclipsys.com.
