Revenue for hospital ancillary software vendor Omnicell Inc. rose slightly as profits fell in the second quarter of 2008.
The Mountain View, Calif.-based company had net income of $2.8 million during the quarter. Substantial tax benefits during the same period last year resulted in net income of $18.1 million, so that period is not comparable to present quarter results. Non-GAAP income for the second quarter of 2008, which excludes share-based compensation expenses and tax benefits, totaled $5.7 million, down 27% from non-GAAP income a year ago.
Quarterly revenue in the second quarter of 2008 rose 2.1% to $63.4 million. Omnicell is a vendor of automated pharmaceutical dispensing cabinets, supply management software and bedside medication management software.
