Computer Sciences Corp. has created a new division to combine its global health care information technology services that were in multiple business divisions.
Pulling all the health businesses into a single global health care division will enable better cooperation in product development, stronger governance to leverage best practices across the company, and easier access to capital, says Deward Watts, president of the new division. He previously led San Diego-based CSCs health care business in the United States and Canada.
CSCs health care business was scattered among its consulting, systems integration and global outsourcing divisions, among others. We had separate divisions with a health care presence and really had outgrown that, Watts says.
The 2007 acquisitions of First Consulting Group Inc. and Covansys significantly increased CSCs health care portfolio. The company serves providers, payers, life sciences/pharmaceutical firms and other segments with applications development, consulting, and application and I.T. infrastructure outsourcing services.
CSC also builds platforms for health information exchanges and regional health information organizations. More information is available at csc.com/industries/healthservices.
