When it introduces the next generation of its software next year, AXEO Systems LLC will offer physician group practices an unusual pricing policy tied to reaping value from an EHR and practice management system.
Under the San Diego-based company's new payment policy, clients can implement the products and use them without paying until they determine that they're getting value, says Jack Sandel, manager at AXEO.
Once clients start paying for the software, they will not owe a balloon payment for previously unpaid months, Sandel notes. He does not envision users abusing the opportunity to see the value of the software before paying for it.
Targeting practices of one to 10 physicians, the software will cost less than $100 per physician per month for the practice management and EHR applications, Sandel says. The Web-based applications can be remotely hosted by the vendor or run on a server at the client site. The EHR can be purchased separate from the practice management module.
The new version of its EHR/practice management software will be introduced during the second quarter of 2010, following the federal government's release of final rules defining meaningful use of EHRs under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. That way, the software will be certain to meet the meaningful use requirements, Sandel says.
