The Colorado Telehealth Network, which supports broadband technology for more than 200 provider organizations across the state, now will offer a statewide medical image archive and exchange.

The network has selected health information technology services firm GNAX Health as the prime contractor of the initiative. The network and vendor will work with the statewide Colorado Regional Health Information Organization and the regional Quality Health Network information exchange serving western Colorado to image-enable their portals to support access to images and reports.

Other components of the initiative include disaster recovery and business continuity software and integration to enable physicians to view images through their electronic health record, supporting a Stage 2 meaningful use requirement.

GNAX will subcontract for a vendor neutral clinical archive from Acuo Technologies; and image visualization, sharing and collaboration tools from Client Outlook. Nine hospitals helped the Colorado Telehealth Network develop the program, and the GNAX team was selected after an evaluation of five proposals.
