Urology clinical software vendor meridianEMR has sued rival Intuitive Medical Software charging unlawful access to patient information.

Livingston, N.J.-based meridianEMR filed suit on June 16 in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey, according to a statement. The company took action after detecting copying activities on a customer's electronic records server.

Springfield, Mo.-based Intuitive Medical Software sells the UroChart electronic health records software. According to meridianEMR, Richard Kroutil, director of technical services at Intuitive, acknowledged under oath on July 21 that an UroChart "clone" server was an exact replica of the meridianEMR server.

Neither company responded to a request for additional comment.
