UnityPoint Health updates IT with suite from Omnicell

Among other buys, Pinnacle Hospital implements PACS from RadNet.

Health Data Management’s weekly roundup of health IT contracts and deployments includes a big win for Omnicell and two major universities buying new technology.

  • UnityPoint Health in West Des Moines, Iowa, will update its medication management, interoperability and data analytics systems using products from Omnicell across 15 hospitals. The products will sit on a single server, facilitating interoperability between various facilities in the delivery system while supporting inventory management and drug diversion detection. The new information systems will run through the Epic EHR platform.
  • Michigan State University’s multispecialty group practice, called HealthTeam, has contracted for a cloud-based suite of software from Athenahealth that includes electronic health record, practice management, patient portal and care coordination systems to support about 260 providers. The contract includes financial incentives to reward mutual success.
  • Arizona State University is live on the Hortonworks Data Platform and conducting genomics analytics to better understand how each variant in a genome may influence an individual’s cancer risks and response to treatments.
  • Pinnacle Hospital, a physician-owned specialty facility with 18 beds and five operating suites in Crown Point, Ind., has replaced its legacy picture archiving and communication system with the eRAD PACS of RadNet Inc. The upgrade will automate report delivery, which is significant because delivery was cumbersome with the previous product that required cut-and-paste and faxes to make reports available. Physicians will be able to access eRAD via any Internet-enabled computing device.
  • HEALTHeLINK, a health information exchange serving western New York State, continues to add more providers to the network. The recent additions include Batavia Ophthalmology in Niagara Falls, Gastroenterology Associates in Orchard Park, Chiro First Wellness Center in West Seneca, Rheumatology Wellness Care of WNY in Cheektowaga, Seneca Health Care Center in West Seneca, Suburban Adult Services in Elma, and WNY Children’s Psychiatric Center in West Seneca.
  • Employer services firm Mercer has signed a three-year renewal agreement with Teladoc to continue be its preferred telehealth vendor. Re-upping with Teladoc came after a six-month review of a range of telehealth providers. Since 2012, Teladoc has offered telehealth services to more than 700,000 people through Mercer’s employer client base.
