Insurer UnitedHealthcare says its Health4Me mobile app now enables plan members to pay their medical bills and manage their healthcare claims and related expenses from their smartphone.

The payment feature, designed with revenue cycle and clearinghouse vendor InstaMed, has previously been available online via UHC’s member portal. The mobile and online service is called myClaims Manager. The Health4Me app and myClaims Manager are available to UHC employers of any size. Payments can be made to anyone in the UHC network of physicians and other care providers, and providers can register to receive the payments electronically.

Other new Health4Me features for UnitedHealthcare allow plan participants to track their physical activity, including wirelessly connecting to a Fitbit device, and stream content from UHC.TV, an internet TV channel with health and wellness information.

The app is available for Apple iOS iPhones and Android devices and has been downloaded more than 1 million times. The app enables anyone to locate nearby healthcare providers, and convenience care, urgent care, and emergency care facilities, as well as review market average prices for more than 755 medical services across 500 episodes of care. Price estimates are based on actual contracted rates with care providers and take into account an individual’s real-time account balances, when applicable.
