Hospital software vendors Streamline Health and Surgical Information Systems have taken big steps in new directions via acquisitions.

Atlanta-based Streamline Health, which specializes in health information management and revenue cycle products, has agreed to acquire ancillary vendor Unibased Systems Architecture for an undisclosed sum.

Unibased, headquartered in St. Louis, sells the ForSite2020 resource management system that includes enterprise master patient index, enterprise scheduling, surgical management, and patient/physician Web portals. The scheduling software has been Best in KLAS for a decade and the surgery software won Best in KLAS from 2003 through 2010.

Atlanta-based Surgical Information Systems, serving more than 300 hospitals, has entered the outpatient surgery market with the acquisition of Armonk, NY-based AmkaiSolutions for an undisclosed sum. The deal adds 200 facilities comprising ASC’s, surgical hospitals and affiliated surgical practices.
