The Covisint unit of Compuware Corp. will build a health information exchange platform for the Greater Tulsa Health Access Network.

Known as Greater THAN, the network is a collaborative of 50 organizations supporting a regional HIE. Major provider organizations in the collaborative include Saint Francis Health System, St. John Health System, Hillcrest Health Systems, Oklahoma University School of Community Medicine and Oklahoma State University Center for Health Sciences.

Greater THAN also is one of 17 federally funded Beacon Communities selected to tackle specific projects to improve health care and population health status. The goal is to accelerate and demonstrate the benefits of health information technology while laying the groundwork for establishment of thousands of health I.T. jobs.

The Tulsa Beacon Community will focus on better community management of diabetes as well as improved cancer screening and immunization rates. The HIE software when coupled with other Beacon Community technologies will enable significantly improved care coordination and reduced duplication of tests and other events, says David Kendrick, M.D., president and CEO at Greater THAN.
