Ness County Hospital in Ness City, Kansas, is implementing electronic health records software as it seeks to qualify for meaningful use incentive payments by the end of 2011.

The 20-bed critical access hospital will use the ChartAccess EHR of Prognosis Health Information Systems, Houston. The clinical system will integrate with the facility's existing financial and accounting system from Creative Healthcare Systems Inc., Springfield, Mo.

Because Ness County can retain its existing financial system, its staff can focus on implementing the clinical system, says Kyle Hahn, administrator. He expects the EHR to improve coordination of care and charge capture.
