Thomson Reuters' Clinical Xpert suite of software to access patient data via mobile computing devices soon will support Apple devices.

The Ann Arbor, Mich.-based vendor in August will start beta testing of Clinical Xpert for iPhone, which also will work on iPods and iPads. The company expects the software to be commercially available in October, downloadable from the Apple App Store. There will be no charge for current software users for the iPhone upgrade.

Clinical Xpert enables clinicians to access such information as medications, radiology and lab results, vital signs, demographics and transcribed reports from various information systems. The software currently runs on Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Palm platforms.
