The state-designated health information exchange entity in Tennessee has selected software from Axolotl Corp., San Jose, Calif., has its core HIE platform.

The Health Information Partnership for Tennessee is a consortium of stakeholders working to create a network-of-networks in the state, which already has several developing or operational regional HIEs.

The partnership will use Axolotl's Elysium Exchange platform to connect HIEs during the next year and create an overarching statewide network. The state HIE will provide such core services as a provider directory, master facilities index and links for public health reporting.

The vendor presently is serving five other state HIEs as a core or partner technology supplier: Idaho, Kentucky, Maryland, Nebraska and Utah.
