Cincinnati-based YourCity.MD LLC will enable visitors to its Web sites to access telephonic medical services from TelaDoc Medical Services, Dallas.

YourCity.MD has Web sites that enable consumers to search for and rate physicians in more than 400 communities. TelaDoc offers 24/7 non-emergency telephonic care by primary care physicians who are licensed in all 50 states. Cost of the telephone consultation is often less than the fee for an office or emergency room visit, the company says.

TelaDoc requires patients to register to become a member of its service to receive care. While registration is free, it enables the company to acquire information about its patients to populate into an electronic health record for them. The agreement with YourCity.MD will enable TelaDoc to offer care to consumers who are not members of its service.

Consumers also can use the YourCity.MD sites to get information on specific medical conditions and access local or national online disease support groups. Physicians also can use the sites to see how patients perceive them compared to other providers, communicate with patients and access patient information handouts.

Consumers and physicians can go to yourcity.md to access the site for their area or type in their local city with the .MD extension. For more information about TelaDoc, go to TelaDoc.com.

A major success factor for accountable care organizations will be linking caregivers across the spectrum of care delivery. If history is any indication, that's going to be an industrywide struggle.
