TelaDoc Medical Services, which provides contracted physician telephone consultation services, has named Jason Gorevic as CEO. He succeeds Michael Gorton, who is pursuing other business opportunities, according to the Dallas-based firm.
Gorevic previously served in multiple positions at Indianapolis-based insurer WellPoint Inc. He most recently was a senior vice president and responsible for developing the corporation's growth strategy. He also led the Lumenos division of WellPoint, which provides consumer-directed health care technologies and services.
TelaDoc contracts with employers, insurers, unions and associations to provide to their members the option of having phone consultations with board-certified physicians. Members typically have a co-pay similar to that of an office visit.
When members register for the service, they complete a self-disclosed medical history over the telephone or online. This history forms the foundation of a TelaDoc electronic health record for a member. TelaDoc also imports two years of pertinent claims data to the EHR for certain insurer clients of The TriZetto Group, a vendor of payer administration and claims adjudication software.
TelaDoc physicians also populate the EHR with pertinent notes from consultations. By August, TelaDoc members with a Microsoft HealthVault account will be able to import, as a Continuity of Care Record, pertinent TelaDoc EHR data to their HealthVault personal health record.
