The value of Health IT developments will be lost unless the industry works to promote opportunities for training and further development, necessary to ensure the U.S. has a workforce equipped with the skills to fulfill vacancies. In addition, many healthcare organizations have not yet addressed the range of technology, staffing, and process requirements needed to capitalize on mobile assets and to deploy mobile capabilities pervasively to optimize operational, tactical, and strategic decisions.

Successful health IT hiring also requires measures to address their attraction and retention issues such as bonuses, and providing additional education and training. Many employers are having success with a comprehensive a program that includes increasing base pay rates, offering retention bonuses while giving workers more training and advancement
opportunities.

ACOs have the need to collect and aggregate data from disparate sources in order to perform analytics on the data to identify trends in patient care and opportunities for improvement. As part of my graduate studies, I interviewed a number of ACO executives across the country on the topic of The Role of Informatics for ACOs and produced videos of its findings.

The Videos are on my blog at http://www.myhealthtechblog.com/2014/06/informatics-and-big-data-for-acos.html
