Sutter Health, Sacramento, says it is launching a "fully integrated" health information exchange that will eventually enable clinicians in Sutter facilities to share pertinent patient data with non-affiliated providers in northern California.
"Currently, the Sutter Health electronic health record connects five medical foundations and 17 hospital campuses," the company said. "By 2015, it expects to complete its EHR installation to better support care delivery to 3 million active patients in more than 100 Northern California cities and towns. An HIE system that integrates Sutters EHR with other providers systems will help northern California caregivers improve quality, safety and efficiency for all patients traveling between providers."
