East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La., has licensed electronic health records software for 138 employed and affiliated physicians.

The 450-bed facility is offering the software at subsidized pricing to affiliated physicians under the revised provisions to the Stark Act and safe harbor laws designed to encourage hospitals to help physicians adopt EHRs.

The hospital is using the EHR of Allscripts LLC, Chicago. It will integrate the remotely hosted software with inpatient information systems to enable physician access to inpatient charts, schedules, laboratory results and radiology reports. The hospital also will encourage physicians not adopting the EHR to use Allscripts’ free e-prescribing software.
