The HIT Policy Committee and HIT Standards Committee, created under the economic stimulus law to advise the Department of Health and Human Services, will meet during August in Washington.

The policy committee will meet Aug. 14 to discuss the definition of meaningful use of electronic health records systems. It also will hear presentations from the certification/adoption and information exchange workgroups, and get an update from the standards committee.

The standards committee itself will meet on Aug. 20 to discuss reports and recommendations from its clinical quality, clinical operations, and privacy and security workgroups. Notices with more information about both meetings were published July 31 in the Federal Register, at gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html.
