The Healthcare Information Technology Standards Panel has approved four interoperability specifications to support information exchange requirements under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
HITSP is an industry group that harmonizes data standards to ensure they work together. The new specifications--and all work now being done by HITSP--are designed to support ARRA's stated or expected requirements for qualified electronic health records and meaningful use of EHRs.
The new interoperability specifications are:
* HITSP/IS107 - Electronic Health Record-Centric Interoperability Specification;
* HITSP/TN904 - Exchange Architecture & Harmonization Framework Technical Note;
* HITSP/TN903 - Data Architecture Technical Note; and
* HITSP/SC108-SC116 - Service Collaborations.
