The March 8 event featured speakers from Manatt, Phelps & Phillips who flagged a number of proposed requirements that will pose challenges to providers, many around patient engagement and health information exchange. One requirement discussed that likely will spark heated debate amongst stakeholders is the exchange of summary of care records, including a requirement that 10 percent of those records must be transmitted to providers using a different EHR system than the transmitting provider or hospital.
In addition, speakers delved into significant departures from the Stage 1 requirements, including measures for the use of eMAR, having imaging results available via electronic health records and the recording of patient family histories, among others.
