Nuance Communications Inc. has certified integrated physician practice management/electronic health records from eClinicalWorks and McKesson Corp.'s Practice Partner product line for optimum use with Nuance's Dragon Medical speech recognition software.
Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance has certified five other EHR vendors since the program started early this year: Allscripts, AmazingCharts, Cerner, Epic and Picis.
Nuance touts Dragon Medical as being "out-of-the-box" compatible with more than 150 EHR systems. Its certification program, however, attests that certified products go beyond speech recognition and data capture to a deeper level of interoperability that includes automated spoken short-cuts to speed dictation and transcription, among other benefits.
