Online physician network host Sermo Inc. has introduced a mobile application enabling members to share information, knowledge and experiences via Sermo's Web platform.

The iConsult feature in Sermo Mobile enables a physician using a mobile computing device to take or add a photo, X-ray or laboratory result, choose a suitable question from a drop-down menu and send the information to relevant specialists in the network.

Other features include mobile access to Sermo discussions, reaching others in the community to ask questions or share opinions, authoring and tracking posts, and notifying members of new developments in medicine. The application initially is available for iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices. The company is not disclosing a timetable for supporting other platforms, "but clearly they are on our roadmap," a spokesperson says. The mobile app is available to members for free download at sermo.com/mobile.
