Safety Net HIE Selects Platform

The Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council in Savannah, Ga., has selected Orion Health Inc. to build a health information exchange platform to serve more than 250,000 uninsured or underinsured residents.


The Chatham County Safety Net Planning Council in Savannah, Ga., has selected Orion Health Inc. to build a health information exchange platform to serve more than 250,000 uninsured or underinsured residents.

The HIE will start with a pilot project connecting one hospital emergency department with one federally qualified health center. The HIE is one of three state demonstration projects that the Georgia Department of Community Health has selected.

Under the contract, Santa Monica, Calif.-based Orion Health will provide its Rhapsody integration engine and Concerto Web portal. Chicago-based Initiate Systems, a partner of Orion Health, will provide patient identifier and record locator technology. Orion Health has contracts with more than 10 other HIEs across the nation.
