The eight federally qualified health centers in Vermont now are live on electronic health records systems.

The centers received help from Vermont Information Technology Leaders, which operates the state’s HIE and regional health information technology extension center; and the Bi-State Primary Care Association serving Vermont and New Hampshire. VITL, for instance, assisted through every step of the EHR process including vendor selection, contract review and implementation. The Bi-State Primary Care Association helped with collecting clinical quality improvement measures required in the EHR meaningful use program.

Five EHR vendors got contracts from the centers: Allscripts, eClinicalWorks, McKesson Practice Partners, GE Centricity and NextGen.
