Institute Readies Cancer Trials Database

Some 5,500 clinical research administrators would each spend about 6 hours a year to update the National Cancer Institute's Clinical Trials Reporting Database, the institute estimates.

The National Cancer Institute published the information collection and reporting burden--two hours for an initial registration each year and one hour for quarterly updates--in a notice published June 16 in the Federal Register. The database is being developed to serve as a single, definitive source of information about all NCI-supported clinical research.

The database is being funded through the economic stimulus law. More information is available at nci.nih.gov/clinicaltrials/ctrp.
