Medical content vendor Elsevier has made its third acquisition in recent months, buying publisher Windhover Information Inc. for an undisclosed sum.

Philadelphia-based Elsevier is a major publisher of medical reference materials in print and electronic form. It also is boosting its presence in data analytics software and market analysis databases.

Norwalk, Conn.-based Windhover publishes--in print and online--journals covering the biopharmaceutical, medical device and biotechnology/life sciences industries. It also operates the Strategic Transactions Database that tracks alliances, financing, and mergers and acquisitions in these fields.

Elsevier in January acquired Orlando, Fla.-based MEDai Inc., a vendor of predictive modeling software to identify high-risk patients and target them for intervention services. Elsevier in December bought the Clinical Practice Model Resource Center from Eclipsys Corp., Atlanta. The center offers technologies and services designed to improve patient outcomes, including a database of evidence-based clinical content.

More information is available at elsevier.com and windhover.com.
