Philadelphia-based Elsevier is a major publisher of medical reference materials in print and electronic form. Its titles include MDConsult, Nursing Consult, Scopus and Science Direct.
Orlando, Fla.-based MEDai’s software, sold to provider and payer organizations, analyzes clinical and claims data from various information systems to identify high-risk patients and target them for intervention services. The software also assists in forecasting future health plan costs and evaluating patients over time.
The acquisition enables Elsevier to offer an integrated decision support/data analytics package. It also gives the publisher an expanded customer base of large health insurers. More information is available at elsevier.com and medai.com.
