Nuance Launches New Systems

Burlington, Mass.-based Nuance Communications Inc. has released a new application designed to enable radiology data mining and analysis as well as a new version of its speech reporting system.

The vendor's RadCube business analysis system works with its other applications for radiology management, including decision support, speech reporting and test management systems. Clinicians can use the software to:

*Measure radiologist and technologist workflow based on exam volume, relative value and financial return;
*Compare clinical findings and recommendation rates for radiologists and subspecialty groups;
*Compare physician ordering habits and decision support appropriateness ratings;
*Calculate report turnaround time, patient wait times, and exams moving through a picture archiving and communication system; and
*Compare available metrics to industry standards and peers.

Version 5.0 of Nuance's PowerScribe speech reporting system features improved word recognition, a new graphical user interface and other workflow enhancements.
