HHS Adds to Value Exchange Program

The Department of Health and Human Services has named 11 community collaborations as “Chartered Value Exchanges.”

The exchanges, which join 14 previously designated organizations, comprise health care stakeholders working to improve the quality and transparency of local care. Designated exchanges have access to Medicare data to augment their efforts to analyze the quality of care that physicians provide to patients. The exchanges also may participate in a learning network that the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality sponsors to provide technical support and share experiences.

The chartered value exchanges program is part of HHS’ “Four Cornerstones” initiative to advance interoperable health information technology, measure and publish both quality and price information, and promote incentives for high-quality and efficient care.

The 11 community initiatives newly designated as chartered value exchanges are:

* Aligning Forces for Quality in York, Pa.,

* California Chartered Value Exchange in San Francisco,

* The Colorado Chartered Value Exchange in Denver,

* eHealth Connecticut Inc. in Middletown,

* Greater Louisville (Ky.) Value Exchange Partnership,

* Health Improvement Collaborative of Greater Cincinnati and HealthBridge,

* Kansas City (Mo.) Quality Improvement Consortium,

* Michigan Health Information Alliance in Mt. Pleasant,

* Nevada Partnership for Value-driven Health Care in Las Vegas,

* Quality Health First in Indianapolis, and

* Virginia Health Care Alliance in Glen Allen.
