Health Monitoring Systems has introduced data analytics and networking software for epidemiologists and public health surveillance programs.
Called EpiCenter, the application is designed to process and correlate multiple streams of data in real time, according to the Pittsburgh-based vendor. It enables, for instance, the grouping of different anomalies--unusual patterns of health data--into one investigation.
A community health surveillance feature combines syndromic surveillance, notifiable disease surveillance and outbreak management functions in a single system, and enables views of health issues down to the neighborhood level.
The application also outlines symptoms, such as flu-like illness, coughing or fever, beyond broader syndromic classifications, such as respiratory or gastrointestinal. And it supports tracking of outcomes of a patients emergency department visit, such as discharge, admission, transfer or death. For details, visit hmsinc.com.
