D.C. Clinics Pick I.T. Vendor

Unity Health Care, a network of community health centers in Washington, D.C., will implement practice management and electronic health records software from eClinicalWorks Inc. at 31 locations.

The clinics treat underserved, homeless and incarcerated patients and include two specialized health centers. More than 100 clinicians will access the software from the Westborough, Mass.-based vendor. Unity Health Care will remotely host the software from a data center at its headquarters.

A $1.4 million grant from the Health Resources and Services Administration within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services is funding the project. In 2007, Unity Health Care treated 80,000 patients who accessed services more than 433,000 times.
