Practice Fusion Inc. will integrate a medical transcription service into its free practice management and electronic health records software for physicians.

The San Francisco-based vendor has aligned with ZyDoc Corp., Hauppauge, N.Y., a medical transcription firm. Physicians will dictate by telephone or via a handheld device that downloads audio files to ZyDoc transcriptionists. Under the alliance, transcribed documents will automatically be inserted into a patient’s EHR.

Practice Fusion makes money by selling advertisements for display within the application and selling non-identifiable patient data to health plans for disease management planning.

More information is available at practicefusion.com and zydoc.com.
