Amsterdam-based Royal Philips Electronics has acquired medSage Technologies LLC, a vendor of automated call center services to connect clinicians to homebound patients. Terms were not disclosed.

Pittsburgh-based medSage's technology enables clinicians to place scheduled, recorded phone calls to ask patients a few simple questions. Results enable clinicians to focus on patients needing care or replenished supplies, according to the vendor.

The company has about 40 employees and provides services for such conditions as obstructive sleep apnea, diabetes, respiratory illness and tube feeding. Philips will place medSage in its Home Healthcare Solutions division.
